L2 Defense’s Hazardous Materials Awareness / Operations courses are based on NFPA® 472 standards and provides responders with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to recognize, analyze, plan, and implement performance-defensive response actions for hazardous materials (HazMat) incidents. During these courses, students receive instruction and hands-on experience in the knowledge, activities and responsibilities required of awareness and operations-level HazMat certification.
L2 Defense’s Hazardous Materials Technician courses prepare Operations-level responders for Technician-level HazMat certification. These training courses are based on NFPA® 472 standards, provides participants with Hazardous Material-specific response knowledge and skills, and enables course completers to respond safely and effectively as HazMat Technician to suspected incidents. For these courses, participants receive hands-on training in donning and doffing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Levels A and B, containing leaks and drum over-packing, containing leaks in pressurized containers, and performing technical and mass decontamination. Our Hazardous Materials Technician courses culminate with the performance of these HazMat Technician tasks in a simulated HAZMAT environment.
Students who successfully complete these HazMat courses have the opportunity to take the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) exam through our public/private partnerships with several nationally recognized accredited institutions. Our mobile training teams can conduct these courses at your location, at a government location, and at an L2 Defense location.
